Annealed/Float Glass
Float glass is created through the process of ‘floating’ molten glass on liquid metal and then cooling the glass to release internal stressors, this process allows the glass to be further handled. Whilst it does serve its purpose, it’s important to note that when broken, float glass tends to shard and therefore not considered a safety glass.
KGC stock 4mm and 5mm clear float but it can be sourced in a multitude of thicknesses and tints.
Laminated Glass
Laminated glass is created when two panels of glass are ‘laminated’ together with an interlayer. When broken, the interlayer allows the glass to remain in one piece. Laminated glass is classed as Grade A safety glass.
KGC stock 6.38 clear, 6.38 grey, 6.38 translucent and 10.38 clear in factory but can source a variety of other thicknesses and tinted laminates.
Toughened Glass
Toughened glass visually appears little different to float glass however, this A Grade Safety glass is put through further heating and cooling processes to create a product that is four to five times stronger than that of annealed glass. Toughened glass usually shatters into small particles when broken.
Toughened glass cannot be cut once it has been through the toughening process therefore all toughened glass is ordered in cut to size.
Obscure Glass
Whether used to create privacy or a visual statement piece – there is an array of options to choose from to suit your taste. Obscure glass can be sources in float, laminate or toughened glass.
KGC stock 6.38 translucent laminate as an obscure option however KGC have access to upwards of 30 different options that can be ordered in.

Energy efficient glass is fast becoming a popular choice for modern glazing. The coated glass allows better thermal protection allowing you better control over the internal temperature. Available in different tints, the reflective appearance also contributes to privacy.
